Abeome Announces First-Class Scientific Advisory Board to Support its Research Activities September 2008 Abeome Corporation, a Georgia-based biotech company, today announced the formation of its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) to collaborate on the development of Abeome's ovarian cancer project and to select and guide future therapeutic and diagnostic projects for the company. Abeome and Cato Research to Collaborate on Ovarian Cancer Therapeutic July 2008 Abeome announced today a strategic equity investment by Cato BioVentures and a research collaboration with Cato Research Ltd., its global contract research organization. Abeome and Millipore launch monoclonal antibody for stem cell research November 2007 Abeome announced the launch of a unique stem cell monoclonal antibody (mAb) for distribution through Millipore Corporation. Under the agreement, Millipore is granted an exclusive worldwide license to market and distribute the antibody for research use. Abeome receives VentureLab Phase IIIa loan from the Georgia Research Alliance November 2007 Abeome has been awarded a follow-on $80,000 loan from the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) for Abeome to use to continue the development of its monoclonal antibody technology. In addition, these funds, which have favorable repayment terms, will enable Abeome to expand its presence at trade shows and biotech partnering conferences. Two biotech execs added to Abeome Board June 2007 Dr. Kirby Alton, former VP of Research for Amgen and John Richard, former CEO of Impath and current managing partner of GVP, have been elected to the BOD effective 1 June 2007. The two newest members join a team existing of Dr. Herb Heyneker, Mike Wanner, and (Chairman) Michael Rainer. Two venture capital firms make initial investment in Abeome June 2007 Abeome announced that the Georgia Venture Partners and the ATDC Seed Capital Fund have made an equity investment in the company in the total amount of $350k. Innovation Grant for $100k awarded to Abeome for ovarian cancer research May 2007 Abeome announced that the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) had awarded the company with a matching grant of $100k to develop monoclonal antibodies and perform functional testing on a several lines of ovarian cancer cells. The project will commence in July and is a collaboration among several top researchers at UGA including Dr. Rich Meagher and Dr. David Puett. Abeome exhibits at PEGS Conference in Boston, MA May 2007 The Protein Engineering Summit served as a showcase of Abeome's technology from May 16th through May 18th. The Summit drew scientific experts from around the world and offered a technical dialogue with potential users and licensees of the technology. Herb Heyneker, Ph.D. joins Abeome BOD March 2007 Abeome announced that Herb Heyneker, Ph.D., one of the original scientists at Genentech and current executive/consultant for a number of biotech companies around the world, has joined its board of directors. Herb brings astute technology insight and start-up biotech experience to the team along with his dynamic personality. Novocell (BresaGen) and Abeome announce R&D and Commercialization Agreement March 2007 Abeome and Novocell, through its BresaGen subsidiary, announced a strategic research and commercialization agreement that partners Novocell's stem cell technologies with Abeome's mAb technology to develop target therapeutic products and reagents for the research tool markets. Abeome receives VentureLab Phase IIb Grant from the Georgia Research Alliance February 2007 The Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) announced that it has awarded Abeome a follow on $50,000 grant for Abeome to continue its development of a commercialization model for licensing the DiSH technology. The company will again be working with SSB Solutions, a leading heathcare consulting firm, to create marketing materials and booth graphics for future presentations at technology trade shows. Abeome presents at North American BioPartnering in Vancouver, BC Februrary 2007 Abeome presented its technology and business strategy at the 5th Annual BioPartnering Conference. The conference enjoyed its highest attendance ever and provided one-on-one opportunities for Abeome to explore potential licensing deals and technology collaborations with a number of biotech companies. Abeome key patent is issued in the US December 2006 The US Patent and Trademark Office issued Abeome's "Rapid Production of Monoclonal Antibodies" (Meagher et al.) patent on 12 December 2006. The patent is held by the University of Georgia Research Foundation (UGARF) and provides intellectual property protection for the company via an exclusive licensing deal with UGARF. Abeome presents at Bio Fusion in Durham, NC September 2006 Abeome showcased its DiSH technology for accelerating development of monoclonal anitbodies at the BIO Fusion industry conference held September 18th in Durham. NC. The meeting was well attended by biopharma companies and has led to early stage discussions on licensing its technology. Abeome selected to present at the SE BIO Investor Forum in Atlanta in November 2006 September 2006 The 6th annual SE BIO Investor Forum has selected Abeome to present at its upcoming conference to be held in Atlanta on November 8-10, 2006. Abeome is among a select group of "early-stage" companies to be profiled at the Forum. CEO Mike Wanner will present Abeome's DiSH technology to a panel of life science, venture capital, financing and other industry participants and will highlight the company's licensing and fund raising potential.
